Job Description
The Standard India is seeking an AI/ML Engineer III to join the AI Delivery team in the successful development and implementation of AI-powered workflow products at the Standard.
You will be part of an innovative team responsible for building, deploying, and operating AI systems that augment business processes and empower employees. As a senior individual contributor, you will own critical components of AI systems, translating models and reasoning workflows into reliable, performant production services. You will collaborate closely with Data Scientists, Software Engineers, Architects, Product Owners, and business partners to deliver durable AI capabilities that scale across the enterprise.
Staying current with the evolving AI landscape, you will apply modern ML engineering practices and LLM-enabled techniques to support AI systems in production. This role provides the opportunity to deepen expertise in production AI, cloud-native systems, and model lifecycle practices while contributing meaningfully to high-impact AI products.
This role requires solid engineering fundamentals, a willingness to learn, and the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams. Successful candidates demonstrate accountability for their work, curiosity in solving technical problems, and a desire to grow into broader ownership over time.
* Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, India is a requirement of the role.
Mode of Working: This role follows a hybrid work model, with a primary base in Bengaluru. While on-site presence is essential for key engagements, flexibility is offered for remote work based on business needs and team alignment.
Skills and Background You’ll Need
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s or degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience delivering AI and machine learning solutions with measurable business impact. Experience in regulated industries (financial services, insurance, healthcare) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or similar.
- Experience implementing model inference, batch scoring, or API-based AI services under guidance.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and containerization concepts (Docker).
- Exposure to distributed data or ML platforms such as Databricks, Spark, or MLflow is preferred.
- Basic familiarity with LLMs, including prompt usage, embeddings, or retrieval-based approaches.
- Understanding of CI/CD fundamentals and experience contributing to automated deployment pipelines.
- Ability to write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, data scientists, and product partners.
- Comfort operating in a collaborative environment with guidance, while steadily increasing technical ownership.
