Lead Test Engineer

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The QA Lead will be a senior offshore Quality Engineer embedded in an agile team, primarily responsible for driving and expanding test automation while supporting functional testing as needed.

Take end-to-end ownership of QA activities for assigned features within an agile team, with a primary focus on test automation (approximately 60% automation, 40% functional testing/support).
• Contribute to and enhance the existing automation framework (no need to build from scratch) using Java/C# integrated with the application code.
• Collaborate with functional testers and developers to understand user stories, acceptance criteria, and business flows, and translate them into robust automated test cases.
• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for web/services/other relevant layers, ensuring adequate coverage of positive, negative, edge, and regression scenarios.
• Perform functional, regression, and smoke testing when required to support releases and sprint deliverables.
• Use Jira (or similar tools) to create, maintain, and track test cases, test execution, and defects; ensure accurate and timely documentation of test results.
• Execute and validate simple database queries to support test preparation, data validation, and defect analysis.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to future offshore QA team members as the offshore model expands.
• Participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, refinement, planning, reviews, retrospectives) and provide clear QA status and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with the team to continuously improve automation coverage, test effectiveness, and overall QA processes

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in software testing with a strong emphasis on test automation.
• Proven experience as a QA Lead / Senior QA / Senior SDET within agile delivery teams.
• Strong automation experience using Java/C#; ability to work with automation integrated into application code.
• Willingness and ability to upskill across both languages if currently stronger in only one (e.g., strong Java automation and ready to learn C# quickly).
• Solid understanding of testing types and techniques: functional, regression, smoke, integration, and basic performance considerations.
• Practical experience using Jira (or similar ALM/bug-tracking tools) for user stories, test management, and defect tracking.
• Ability to write and execute simple to moderate SQL/database queries for data setup and validation.
• Demonstrated experience working with distributed/onshore–offshore teams, including time-zone overlaps and asynchronous collaboration

Good-to-Have Skills:
• Experience scaling or setting up offshore QA/automation teams.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build and deployment processes.
• Experience with additional testing tools or frameworks (e.g., Selenium, REST API automation, BDD frameworks, etc.).
