Job Description
To be successful as a Unix infrastructure engineering lead , you should have experience with:
- Provide technical direction and leadership in Unix engineering, ensuring the team meets the requirements of customers, partners, and stakeholders.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of highly skilled engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of Unix engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Drive the implementation of automation and CI/CD practices within the team, promoting efficiency and reducing manual toil.
- Lead the adoption and integration of IaC tools to streamline infrastructure management and deployment processes.
- Maintain a deep understanding of Unix operating systems, automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and coding languages such as Ansible , Python, Perl, and Shell scripting.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance the Unix engineering capabilities of the organization, aligning with overall business goals.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with Unix engineering projects and operations.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in Unix engineering, including proficiency in operating systems, automation, CI/CD, and IaC tools.
- Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams, with strong mentoring and coaching skills.
- Expertise in Unix/Linux operating systems, automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), and coding languages (e.g., Python, Perl, Shell scripting).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Relevant certifications in Unix/Linux, automation, and project management are a plus.
