Senior Associate Engineer, TSG Quality Assurance
bain
Job Description
Quality Thinking and Risk Assessment (25%)
- Understand functional and non-functional requirements and the business context; ask what could go wrong for a real user, not just what the spec says to check.
- Review user stories and acceptance criteria before work begins; flag gaps, ambiguities, and missing edge cases early.
- Build a mental model of the product over time: how users move through it, where failures hurt them most, and which risks matter.
- Participate in requirement meetings and design walkthroughs; contribute test-focused questions and input into acceptance criteria.
Test Planning, Execution, and Defect Management (50%)
- Design test strategies and test cases prioritizing coverage by risk and user impact
- Participate in design reviews with an adversarial mindset; raise edge cases and failure modes before development begins
- Use AI tools to generate test cases and test data; review AI-generated output for meaningful assertions and coverage gaps
- Validate self-healed automation scripts to confirm they still assert meaningful behaviour
- Conduct exploratory, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing including adversarial scenarios and boundary conditions
- Validate LLM outputs, AI responses, and agent behaviors for accuracy, consistency, hallucinations, and prompt sensitivity
- Support prompt regression testing; flag untracked prompt changes that could introduce regression risk
- Conduct API and contract interface testing
- Review AI-generated synthetic test data for realism and bias
- Log defects with clear reproduction steps; perform initial root cause analysis and track to closure
- Write and maintain automated test scripts under senior guidance; keep regression suite current
- Support release readiness and production validation checks under senior guidance
Team Collaboration (25%)
- Contribute to the application test strategy, including the appropriate balance of exploratory, manual, and automated testing, working with QA leadership and the scrum team.
- Participate fully in all scrum ceremonies, including standups, planning, reviews, and retrospectives, with a quality lens.
- Raise concerns, risks, and impediments to the scrum team and management promptly; communicate testing progress and blockers with clarity.
- Support sprint goals, including activities outside the QA function when requested.
- Embrace new tools and AI-assisted ways of working adopted by the team; stay current with evolving quality engineering practices.
