Senior Machine Learning Engineer

WHAT YOU'LL BUILD:

In your role as Senior Machine Learning Engineer for the SAP Experience Garage, you’ll design, prototype, and scale AI-powered solutions that help SAP teams and customers transform real business challenges into measurable outcomes.

• You’ll be responsible for setting up and leading technical data and AI challenges, collaborating with partners like Databricks, Microsoft, and SAP BTP teams to accelerate innovation.
• Your work will directly impact how AI is adopted and democratized across SAP, empowering teams to move from exploration to production with speed and confidence.
• You’ll co-design and run hackathons and incubation programs, shaping the technical backbone that enables teams to test, validate, and iterate on their ideas.
• You’ll prototype intelligent agents, recommender systems, and data-driven apps, contributing to SAP Experience Garage showcases and innovation stories that inspire adoption company-wide.
• You’ll establish frameworks to track and measure success, connecting AI experiments to tangible business value and customer experience improvements.
• You’ll evaluate and prioritize high-impact AI opportunities, guiding cross-functional teams on feasibility, scalability, and ethical use of AI within SAP’s ecosystem

WHAT YOU BRING:

• 8 - 12 year of relevant experience
• Strong hands-on experience in machine learning, AI engineering, or data science, with proven ability to translate complex concepts into working prototypes.
• Deep familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Azure, SAP BTP, or similar), and comfort working across distributed data and compute environments.
• Skilled in Python, ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn), and modern MLOps or LLMOps practices for scalable experimentation and deployment.
• Experience facilitating hackathons, data challenges, or innovation sprints, combining technical rigor with creativity and collaboration.
• Growth mindset with a curiosity to experiment, learn fast, and help others do the same – balancing innovation speed with data and model integrity.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills to translate technical progress into business impact, fostering trust and excitement among non-technical stakeholders.
