Job Description
What You Will Do:
- Engage with customers to understand their challenges and help provide basic solutions to meet their observability needs using SaaS products and open-source tools under the guidance of senior team members. (GitLab, New Relic, PagerDuty, and more)
- Support SaaS products in a production environment by performing routine maintenance tasks and addressing common issues following documented and well-defined procedures.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively in an asynchronous work environment, contributing to clear documentation and iterative development.
- Consume small-scale, manageable, tasks and contribute to the development of proof of concepts.
- Learn and apply foundational DevOps principles, including the "3 Ways of DevOps," under mentorship.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation for observability and reliability best practices.
- Participate in code reviews with a focus on learning and developing high-quality code practices.
- Assist in developing and maintaining internal automation tools by handling straightforward tasks and building familiarity with clean code and MVP principles.
Your Qualifications:
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience in a related field.
- 1 - 2 years of demonstrated experience working on a team in a similar role.
- Experience with at least one scripting language, such as Python or Javascript, for automating tasks.
- Genuine passion for DevOps, continuous learning, and experimentation methodologies.
- Self-driven attitude with the initiative to pursue solutions and seek learning opportunities.
- Basic understanding of Git Operations and/or source code management (SCM) solutions.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment. (GitLab CI, Jenkins)
- Some exposure to the three pillars of Software Observability including logging, metrics, and traces.
- A Passing Familiarity with AWS technologies such as EC2, IAM, or operating Lambda functions.
- Comfort with collaboration, open communication, and reaching across functional borders.
