Job Description
What you will do :
Key Responsibilities
1. Validate networking switch platforms for functional, regression, interoperability, and reliability testing.
2. Design and execute comprehensive PoE test plans:
- IEEE 802.3af/at/bt compliance behavior
- Power negotiation, classification, allocation, and budget handling
- Multi-port power stress and overload scenarios
3. Perform interface testing across copper/fiber and different speeds (1G/10G/25G/40G/100G as applicable):
- Link bring-up, flap recovery, auto-negotiation, FEC, MTU, VLAN, LACP
- Throughput, latency, packet loss, and error behavior
4. Develop and maintain Python-based automation frameworks for platform and interface validation.
5. Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.
6. Analyze failures from logs, packet captures, counters, and platform diagnostics; drive root-cause analysis with development teams.
7. Work with hardware, firmware, and software teams to define test coverage for new features and releases.
8. Generate clear test reports, defect summaries, and release quality metrics.
What you will bring :
Must-Have Skills
1. Strong platform testing knowledge for networking switches.
2. Proven expertise in PoE testing and interface testing on managed/unmanaged switch products.
3. Good understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 switching concepts:
- VLAN, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP, QoS, IGMP, routing basics
4. Hands-on Python automation experience:
- Test scripting, API/CLI automation, log parsing
- Experience with `pytest`/`unittest` and automation best practices
5. Experience with network test tools such as IXIA/Spirent/Trex (or equivalent traffic generators).
6. Working knowledge of Linux, shell scripting, and Git.
7. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in hardware-software integrated environments.
Preferred Skills
1. Knowledge of PoE standards/certification workflows and power measurement setups.
2. Experience with SNMP, NETCONF/RESTCONF, gNMI, or telemetry validation.
3. Experience with large campus topologies and interoperability testing.
4. Understanding of end-to-end enterprise use cases such as IP phones, wireless APs, and PoE endpoints.

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field.
Success Criteria
1. High automation coverage for PoE and interface regression.
2. Reduced manual testing cycle time and faster release confidence.
3. Early detection of platform and interoperability defects.
4. Stable, repeatable test infrastructure supporting rapid product releases.
