VMware Platform Operations Engineer

Installation and Configuration: Lead the installation and configuration of VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter across vSphere ensuring optimal performance and stability. 

Upgrade and Maintenance: Perform upgrades of VMware environments using VMware Update Manager (VUM) and Lifecycle Manager, keeping systems up-to-date and secure. 

Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve complex issues within the VMware infrastructure to minimize downtime and maintain service continuity. 

Server Clustering: Manage the addition, modification, and deletion of server clusters within vCenters, including HA (High Availability), DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler) clusters, and Metro Stretch Clusters. 

Deployment: Oversee the deployment of virtual machines (VMs) and related resources, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational standards. 

Configuration Changes: Implement configuration changes in the VMware environment, maintaining thorough documentation and adhering to change management protocols. 

Management and Monitoring: Utilize advanced management and monitoring tools to ensure the health, performance, and reliability of the VMware environment. 

Automation Focused: Embrace an automation-first mindset, leveraging scripting and exposure to various tools to automate processes and improve efficiency. 

Physical Hardware Management: Manage and maintain physical hardware across different vendors, ensuring devices are patched and running the latest firmware. 

Site Setup: Lead the setup of new sites, configuring networks, and integrating them into the existing VMware environment seamlessly. 

Networking: Deep understanding of networking concepts like VLANs and trunking. Configure and manage VMware networking components, including Distributed Switches (vDS), to ensure efficient and secure network communication. 

Remote Support: Provide remote support to globally dispersed teams, ensuring consistent and reliable VMware services across all locations. 

Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams and vendors to implement and support innovative solutions, fostering a collaborative environment. 

Technical Leadership: Provide expertise and leadership to turn ideas and concepts into effective solutions. Mentor team members and share knowledge to elevate team performance. 

Infrastructure Optimization: Optimize, configure, and maintain private cloud infrastructure capabilities. Build, configure, and maintain systems to enhance overall performance.
