Job Description
The Virtualization Engineer will be responsible for:
- VMWare Administration:
- Virtual machine creation, cloning, and configuration
- VMware Host builds and cluster configuration
- Virtual Center administration and troubleshooting
- ESXi scripting and automation
- Handling L1-3 tickets
- Perform troubleshooting of Virtualization issues across the hardware and software stack.
- Diagnostic of and troubleshooting common guest / host issues
- Monitor resource usage, making required adjustments for host / guest issues.
- Troubleshooting host and storage issues related to the VMware infrastructure.
- Azure and AWS support role.
- Stay current with changes in these technical areas of expertise.
The Virtualization Engineer must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related technical field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a related role, preferably direct administration/management of VMware systems.
- Knowledgeable in VMware and open to other virtualization platforms.
- Knowledge of Cisco UCS.
- Knowledgeable in VMware Aria Suite products (Operations, Automation, etc.)
- Knowledgeable in Automation concepts, products and scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Ansible)
- Knowledgeable in administration of Windows and Linux OS (level 1-2)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; including documentation.
- Ability to work in global environment across time zones; the hours need to be flexible to match US hours.
- Comfortable working in a 24/7, Enterprise-level environment.
- Ability to work independently and to develop / execute plans.
- Documentation skills for processes and procedures, creating KBs, runbooks, topology etc.
- Knowledge of Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services is a strong plus.
